ASHWAUBENON — After winning the FRCC conference championship and its Division 2 sectional Saturday in their home pool, the Ashwaubenon girls swim team is now off the the state swim and dive meet Nov. 11, 2022 at the Waukesha South Natatorium.

The Jaguars qualified for three team relays, and five swimmers qualified for an additional eight individual events.

The 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay teams were sectional winners. They’ll be joined at state by the 200 medley team.

  • Bry Bellile, senior, was the sectional winner in both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle
  • Sienna Nitke, junior, was the sectional winner in the 200 freestyle, and she’ll also compete in the 100 freestyle.
  • Erin Schuch, sophomore; will compete in the 500 freestyle and 100 butterfly
  • Liz Witt, senior, will compete in the 100 freestyle
  • Berritt Herr, sophomore, will compete in the 100 breaststroke

Bellile was third as a freshman in 2019 and is the top returning swimmer in the 100 freestyle with the best qualifying time of 51.29.

Among her stiffest challenges for the title may come from junior teammate Sienna Nitke, who was third a year ago.

LANE ASSIGNMENTS

The Division 2 championships will be held Friday, with the Division 1 championships to follow on Saturday. The Division 2 diving competition begins at 1:30 p.m., and the swimming finals are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. The Division 1 diving competition is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
